Love At First Bite - The Wayfarer NYC

The second level of The Wayfarer

While I'm normally not a fan of American hotel restaurants because of their massive potential to be bland, reeking of americana vibes, I have THE restaurant to recommend that is THE exception, The Wayfarer. It's no surprise it happens to be the restaurant connected to my favorite hotel in America and what may as well be my primary residence in NYC, The Quin, located at 57th and 6th, in the heart of bustling Midtown Manhattan. Though it is an American Fare restaurant serving outstanding seafood selection, their menu is super eclectic and in an elegant, posh, bi level setting.

Now I'm a lady who brunches, especially with my husband. I do love my bottomless mimosas and all that jazz (and if I'm feeling real good, I may just have that pinky raised). I never used to be crazy about Eggs Benedict until the second I tried The Wayfarer's excellent Eggs Benedict dish. It was truly love at first bite. Our first encounter was October 2014 and here we are in 2017 and inseparable. As a Taurus, I am notorious for ordering the same things in fear of being disappointed by trying something new. I'm loyal to my favorite meals :)

Eggs Benedict. What a beauty!
Gee. You can tell how much I hated it ;)

Their fun Wayfarer walrus mugs provide amusing photo ops. Gregory pulled it off quite well, if I do say so myself. Sometimes we go up to their second level lounge for tea time if we crave a little privacy but we prefer to be downstairs where it's all happening. The restaurant carries a carnival-like, rock n roll vibe, and because The Quin is right next door, it would make sense that this restaurant is drenched in artistic history too. By the way, the music played here is top notch. I haven't heard a song I didn't like - I'm a total 60s child, I swear I was born in the wrong era...

I Am The Walrus!
Look at the art!

I love that this restaurant is conveniently located and fully functional. Even though The Wayfarer is connected to the Quin by a large glass door, it doesn't actually feel part of the hotel which I think is just stellar (given how I feel about hotel restaurants!). Everyone dines there from hotel guests to industry people to regular New Yorkers to even hotel staff! It's just an all around cool place to hang out.

Also, I can bring my friends here as well as hold a lot of business meetings with high roller investors. It's laid back but can also play the part of fancy restaurant without denting the wallet too badly. It's in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, so what do you expect? You certainly get what you pay for.

Brunch heaven

My usual order?

For breakfast/brunch - scrumptious Eggs Benedict

For lunch - adorably presented Shrimp Tempura Sushi Roll

For dinner - mouthwateringly fresh Shrimp and Lobster burger with a side of crispy hand cut fries

I did a total blogger faux pas and did not get around to taking pictures of my lunch & dinner entree. Yes, it's true that I actually connect with my experiences and go with out my phone sometimes. You're going to have to trust me on this one :)

.... so if you couldn't tell already, I am a regular here! Regular readers know I am crazy about their chocolate chip cookies. The gooey melted chocolate is heavenly. Check out my personal Facebook page for the saliva-inducing boomerang video I made of this sinful treat! Thanks to the staff for surprising me with these goodies from time to time.

If you're ever in the Big Apple, do yourself a favor and pop into The Wayfarer and delight your tastebuds. The customer service is impeccable and the food is egg-cellent (omg did I just do that?). Tell them I sent you. :)

Happy eating,

Cherie
