What To Know
Hotel Edouard 7 is part of the B Signature Hotel & Resorts collection, a fresh, young, vibrant and dynamic luxury hotel portfolio with properties in Paris, Brittany and now St Barth. I have recently fallen in love with the brand having stayed at Hotel Bel Ami in Saint-Germain-Des-Pres earlier this month and inspecting the other properties in their Parisian collection. They truly cater to a new generation of travelers, promoting a brand of unbuttoned luxury.
Hotel Edouard 7 is the only 4 star property out of the whole collection of 5 star properties. However, the level of service is certainly not compromised!
Hotel Edouard 7 was the Parisian home of a total epicurean and lover of Paris, Edward VII. Consider this hotel as a love letter to his legacy.
The hotel was renovated in 2013 by designer Christopher Daudré.
Very boutique and residence feel with only 69 rooms, including 10 suites. Hotel Edouard 7 captures the period/style while maintaining contemporary elements.
Location, location, location! Hotel Edouard 7 is ideally situated in the heart of Paris on Avenue de l'Opéra. You are literally a 4 minute walk from the Palais Garnier and a 10 minute walk to the Louvre. Not to mention you're just steps away from Place Vendome, Printemps, Jardin des Tuileries, and Galeries Lafayette. This is the perfect spot for all your right bank lovers!
The staff are impeccable and professional without being too in your face.
The entry level rooms are spacious as far as Paris hotel rooms go. However, I highly recommend booking a Deluxe room to start!
Two stylish conference rooms.
An upscale and cosy restaurant, E7, open everyday except on weekends for party functions.
Dog friendly (with a fee)!
Eco chic and forward, the robes are deliciously divine. Why? Because they are made of bamboo!
Because of the hotel layout, most of the rooms (bar the first floor) have a balcony overlooking the bustling Avenue de L'Opera or the quiet Rue D'Antin.
In my opinion, breakfast had limited options. At Hotel Bel Ami (another B Signature property) the breakfast food selection was vast and colorful. Also, a preference on my part but I found the eggs extremely runny for my taste. The food was a little slow to replenish too.
The gym is on the smaller side; however, a gym in a boutique hotel is a major plus!
Though there is 24/7 room service, it is light fare. But not a problem when you have a wealth of superb restaurants outside your front door!
Check In/The Room
My arrival was smooth and fun. I hopped into an Uber from the 6th arrondissement for a 10 minute jaunt. If arriving from Charles De Gaulle Airport, expect a 35 minute journey. If arriving from Orly Airport, expect just under 35 minutes. My room was ready early (best words to hear upon check in!). Everyone at the front desk was warm-hearted and inviting. As I walked in, I was delighted to walk into such a spacious room with a balcony overlooking unrestricted views of the Palais Garnier.
Audacity. Seduction. Character. Theatricality.
These are just a few words to capture the theme of the rooms.
The walls are stenciled with cursively written excerpts from the picaresque novel, Gil Blas. Oh if these walls could talk!
All rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, and a curtained closet with a small safe.
Haute couture. Cushioned walls. Rich fabrics and jewel toned colors.... the rooms are decked out in opulent colors of ruby, sapphire, golds, etc. What I love is that not one room is the same. There are two different collection: Edouard 7 and Couture. The first 4 floors are the Edouard 7 collection and boasts the more contemporary, jewel toned rooms. Floors 5-7 are the Couture collection and they are more traditional, authentic and feminine in style. They haven't been renovated so they are more faithful to the story of Prince Edward VII. But so are the contemporary rooms in a subtle and elegant way! I checked into a Deluxe Opera view room (302) and was blown away at how quiet it was even though the hotel is set on a lively street. A true oasis in the heart of Paris.
I love the subdued simplicity of the marble bathrooms, equipped with deliciously soft towels and robes and the personal B Signature bath amenities in partnership with Histoires de Parfums. The toilet was in a separate room which is quintessentially French due to many apartments being heritage listed buildings with strict building codes.
You cannot go wrong with sweet treats upon check in and the lovely note! I cannot get enough of freshly baked madeleines.
I wish the hotel made their pillow menu more conspicuous, perhaps near the bed (unfortunately it was tucked away in a folder that I didn't open until the next morning). I would have definitely taken advantage of it, though I will say the bed and the pillows were quite heavenly to begin with. :)
Edouard 7 has a room for every client. For more traditional guests, I suggest opting for a junior suite. The suites are named in honor of King Edward VII's favorite Parisian ladies aka former lovers ;)
My favorite suite, Suite Sarah, is the ideal room for lovebirds to cocoon in or a small family, as there is also a sleeper sofa. Let's not forget the guaranteed spectacular and unrestricted view of Palais Garnier.
From Nada to Prada tip: All suites are equipped with iPod docking station and Nespresso machines. Classic, Double, and Deluxe rooms do have coffee/tea making facilities.
Another suite that is more like a studio provides a beautiful home away from home in Paris (think pied-à-terre) with a different and playful color palette and a more intimate atmosphere.

E7 - awaken your tastebuds from Monday to Friday, 12 PM to 2 PM and from 7 PM to 10 PM. Bravo David Braido for keeping your cuisine fresh and contemporary!
The Murano glass adds a beautiful pop of timeless elegance. What's so special about Murano glass, you say? It is crafted only on the island of Murano and is meticulously handblown using a mixture of silica, soda, lime and potassium melted together. For sparkles, copper can be added amongst many other minerals for an explosion of color.
E7 restaurant - an uber functional space for breakfast in the morning and cozy and elegant ambiance for dinner.
Words of Thanks
A big thank you to the bubbly Sales Manager, Anne-Sophie Milharo, whom I instantly connected with. Her passion for the hotel is inspiring and refreshing. It is wonderful to be an industry where you can call the Sales Managers your friends. Thank you for such a delightful stay and I am looking forward to sending my discerning clients for a royal stay at Hotel Edouard 7. It is a right bank gem for sure. Also a shoutout to Alain at the front desk for escorting me to my Uber upon my departure - that was very kind of you to do in the midst of the yellow vest movement.
From Nada to Prada tip: Request a higher room with an Opera View! Don't want to overlook a busy street and don't care for the view of the Palais Garnier? Ask for rooms overlooking the quiet Rue D'Antin.
